FICCI announces Shailesh Pathak as its new Secretary General

The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), India’s topmost business chamber, has recently revealed the appointment of Shailesh Pathak as Secretary General, effective from March 1, 2023.
With a career of 37 years, Pathak has served in the government as an IAS officer and held prominent positions in large private-sector companies. He possesses substantial international exposure, including an Eisenhower Fellowship as an emerging Indian leader in 2000, an EU Visitor Program hosted by the European Commission in 2003, and a Chevening scholarship at the University of Oxford in 2011.
Pathak graduated from SRCC Delhi and completed his MBA degree from IIM Calcutta in 1986. He also holds an LLB degree and a Diploma in Ornithology from BNHS. Pathak has authored more than 40 publications on finance, infrastructure, public policy, and cities. He is a skilled mountaineer who has climbed a 6831m peak in the Himalayas and trekked extensively. Pathak was also the best all-around officer trainee in his Foundation Course at LBSNAA, Mussoorie.
Commenting on the appointment, FICCI President Subhrakant Panda stated, “I am delighted to welcome Shailesh and look forward to working closely on a comprehensive agenda for FICCI which takes into account the interests of all stakeholders. I am sure he will help me, and successive Presidents carry forward the organization’s rich legacy.”
On his appointment, Shailesh Pathak quoted, “I am privileged to join the FICCI family. With its 95-year history, FICCI as ‘Industry’s Voice for Policy Change’ will see an even brighter decade ahead. India is going to become a much bigger economy, and Indian business and industry would play a major role in this growth.”
