NASSCOM appoints its new Chairman and Vice-Chairman for 2016-17
The National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) recently nominated its Chairman and Vice-Chairman for the current fiscal year. As per this fresh appointment C P Gurunani, MD & CEO Tech Mahindra, and Raman Roy, Chairman & MD of Quattro BPO, have been selected as the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of NASSCOM respectively.
Gurunanani who succeeds NASSCOM’s past chairman (2015-16), BVR Mohan Reddy, is part of its Executive Council.
Gurnani will play a pivotal role in further accelerating the growth of India’s technology and services industry, along with taking the industry’s future to a higher level. On this occasion, Gurunani expressed: “Being at the helm of NASSCOM, I will continue to drive greater engagement with our stakeholders and members to address the prevalent industry issues of inclusion, education, infrastructure security and corporate governance.”
The erstwhile chairman, Mr. Reddy said: “2015 was a defining year for the industry as we outlined our vision for the decade ahead and witnessed innovative entrepreneurs rise to achieve tremendous success, making India one of the key Startup hubs across the globe. It has been a great opportunity leading NASSCOM during the last one year and I am confident that NASSCOM will grow from strength to strength.”
Having spent 30+ years in the industry, Gurunani has held many leading positions with organizations like HCL, Hewlett Packard Limited, Perot Systems (India) Limited and HCL Corporation Ltd, before joining Tech Mahindra. He is an alumnus of National Institute of Technology, Rourkela (Odisha), from where he graduated in chemical engineering. He has been honoured by several reputed organizations and publications like Ernst and Young, CNBC Asia, Forbes India, for his outstanding contribution to the industry.
It is also worth noting that Raman Roy is the pioneer of the BPO industry in India and is popularly known as the “Guru” ITES and BPO sector in India. Roy is a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Management Accountant with a Doctorate in Management Accountancy with a career spanning 35+ years in diverse areas such as Finance, Consulting, Operations and General Management.
Chairman, CP Gurnani along with Vice-Chairman, Raman Roy, and President, R Chandrashekhar will lead NASSCOM to carry out its varied ranges of missions.
