Placements to begin from December 1

The placement season at IIT Bombay will be on from December 1 to December 15. The placements at this institution in the core engineering category are expected to increase significantly this season as many Public Sector Units (PSU) and universities are approaching the Institute. In addition to ISRO, Coal India and HPCL which visited IIT Bombay last year, new PSUs include Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), BPCL and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) among others.

The recruiters will hire students across Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral programs. These PSUs are offering attractive packages at par with the industry. Students of the Institute have also shown an increased interest in taking up core jobs as compared to last year.

125 PPOs have come so far. Contrary to popular perception, core engineering sector has got the highest number of registrations . The demand for data analytics role has remained unchanged. Deferral placements are permitted only for start-up and social cases.

Further, both established and upcoming colleges/universities are also looking for high-quality workforce to fill various academic and non-academic positions. This would primarily offer a big push to placements of over 100 registered PhD students across departments. The number of these universities has almost tripled to over 20 as compared to 7 last year, resulting in a more diverse set of roles being offered and a larger number of placed students.
