In an attempt to foster India-Spain economic and investment relations, the recently constituted India-Spain CEOs Forum by Governments of India and Spain, was formally inaugurated on 24th of June in Madrid, Spain.
Jaime García-Legaz, Secretary of State for Trade, Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, Government of Spain; Subhash Chandra Pandey, Additional Secretary & Financial Advisor, DIPP, GoI; Tulsi Tanti, CMD, Suzlon Ltd and Fernando Abril Martorell, Chairman – the two Co-Chairs of the Forum along with many Forum members from both the nations were present at the occasion. They shared their ideas to propel the Forum in realising the collective goals towards exploring new business avenues, bringing in policy reforms and creating an ecosystem for companies to enter respective markets.
Harshavardhan Neotia, President, FICCI signed a tripartite accord with Spain Chamber of Commerce and CEOE to activate the Forum and to collectively work to actuate its goals.
Manuela Carmena, Mayor of Madrid greeted senior industry leaders from both the nations during the inaugural session of the event and urged both sides to relook at the emerging business possibilities in sectors like pharmaceutical and life sciences, automotive sector, defence and aerospace , renewable energy & power, urban infrastructure and transport along with IT&ITES.
A Working Paper on “India-Spain: Synergising Economic” was also unleashed at the inaugural session of the Forum.
Subsequently, FICCI formalized its institutional relations with Spain Chamber of Commerce by signing an MoU, which was signed by Harshavardhan Neotia, President, FICCI
The Indian Ambassador to Spain, Vikram Misri, during his address at GBF, informed: “In view of the importance of promoting people-to-people connects which eventually lead to positive business outcomes, Air-India would be starting a direct flight to Madrid by the end of 2016.”
Panel discussions on cooperation in infrastructure, IT, Smart cities, renewable and manufacturing sectors, and tourism along with promoting cooperation in media and entertainment were also held.
