Followed by the end of Dr Yasmine Hilton’s stint at Shell Companies in India as the Chairman, the present country head of Shell Lubricants, Nitin Prasad, will serve Shell India as its new Chairman.
Dr. Hilton’s term will end on 30 September 2016, after a distinguished career spanning around 37 years. Besides being the Chairman of Shell India, she is the VP IT Project Excellence, Royal Dutch Shell (Shell).
Yasmine Hilton began her career in the IT department and went on to hold a number of senior posts in the Group including Chief Information Officer for the UK division and for Shell’s global retail business worldwide. In October 2012, she took up a four-year assignment as Country Chairman, and hence became the first woman leader in the Indian oil and gas industry.
As the Chairman, Hilton steered the company through a long-running and complex tax dispute, the favourable result of which was a positive one for foreign investment in India. She played an instrumental role in transforming the Company with an integrated One Shell India approach and a strong focus on human resource development and equality in the workplace.
During her leadership, the Company has doubled in size and has achieved outstanding operational record. She was personally and directly involved in setting up of the new global IT Centre in Bangalore, creating job opportunities for thousands. These achievements were helpful in her ranking as the ninth most powerful business woman in India by Fortune Magazine.
Nitin Prasad holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, USA and a management graduation degree from INSEAD. He joined Shell India in 2004 as Project Leader and the current position in 2011. His roles have been crucial in turning around lubricants business in India.
